Our background

 

Hi, my name is Steve Jones and I'm the head trainer at Nomadic Training. My background in exercise comes from an initial love of sport which lead me to complete Bachelor of Human Movement (Exercise and Sport Science) and Health Science (Honours) university degrees. Initially, I had a desire to work in elite sport as a sport scientist and strength coach, however I realised after some experience in the industry that it was not for me. After working in medical research for a period of time, my partner and I decided we would hit the road and travel around Australia for a year. This is where my experience in minimal equipment exercise began, as we only had access to resistance bands and whatever nature provided. Finishing our travels, we ended up settling in Queensland and I began work as a personal trainer. This has broadened my horizons towards the benefits exercise can have beyond improving athletic performance. Working with people such as stroke rehabilitation patients, those with disabilities and people with many varied exercise goals has provided me with a wealth of experience. I now wish to share this knowledge and experience with others, especially travellers as I know how important exercise can be from both a physical and mental health standpoint when on the road. This is where Nomadic Training comes in and I hope we can help you meet your goals!
