Our background

Hi, my name is Steve Jones and I'm the head trainer at Nomadic Training. My background in exercise stems from a deep love of sport, which led me to complete Bachelor of Human Movement (Exercise and Sport Science) and Health Science (Honours) university degrees. Initially, I aspired to work in elite sport as a sport scientist and strength coach; however, after gaining some experience in the industry, I realized it wasn't the right fit for me. Following a stint in medical research, my partner and I decided to travel around Australia for a year. This journey sparked my interest in minimal equipment exercise, as we only had resistance bands and whatever nature provided. After our travels, we settled in Queensland, where I began my career in personal training. This experience expanded my perspective on the benefits of fitness for travelers, showing me how exercise can enhance well-being beyond just improving athletic performance. Working with diverse clients, including stroke rehabilitation patients and individuals with disabilities, has enriched my knowledge. I am now eager to share this expertise with fellow travelers, recognizing how crucial exercise is for both physical and mental health on the road. This is where Nomadic Training comes into play, and I hope we can help you achieve your fitness goals!
